What is dual enrollment?

Dual Enrollment (DE) allows qualified students to enroll in college courses through local and state colleges and universities while still in high school. Students earn dual credits for high school and for college.

What you need to know:

  • Requires a 3.00 unweighted Grade Point Average (GPA) to participate
  • Students must demonstrate college readiness through assessment of communication and computation skills. Demonstrated readiness for college coursework
  • Students must have an understanding that the amount of work necessary to succeed in dual enrollment courses will be greater than in high school courses.
  • Students participating in dual enrollment must earn a grade of "C"; or higher in their college-level courses and maintain a 3.0 GPA in high school to continue participation. Students whose college GPA falls below 2.0 are ineligible to continue dual enrollment.
  • All Dual Enrollment courses must be approved by their secondary school  counselors.
  • Courses taken in Dual Enrollment will be used to meet the student’s high school graduation requirement.
  • The course fee is waived by the college/university, and the District pays for the required books/materials.
  • Transportation to and from the college/university is the student’s responsibility for courses taken off-campus.

*High school dual enrollment students with a 2.5 unweighted GPA who do not meet the statutory eligibility requirements (mandated GPA, test scores, and alternate methods) are eligible to enroll in the COLLEGE CONNECT courses. Students can take a maximum of 12 credits through the COLLEGE CONNECT Program before demonstrating college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics.
